a. Syntax of Decimal Fraction Numerals
Decimal fraction numerals are generated by means of copulative composition and consist of the following constituents:
- The integral part as a cardinal numeral
- The noun /momajjez/ ممیّز
- If the fractional part begins with a zero, the cardinal numeral /sefr/ صفر
- If the fractional part begins with several zeros, the numeral phrase with the pattern [NP[Dcardinal numeral] [NPcardinal numeral /sefr/ صفر]] (with the cardinal numeral according to the number of the zeros).
- The fractional part (without leading zeros) as a cardinal numeral
For example:
The mathematical decimal fraction numerals can also be expressed like mixed numerals (or fraction numerals). Grammatically, they do not count among the Decimal Fraction Numerals in the following cases:
- ۱,۲: /jek o do dæhom/ یک و دو دهم
- ۲۵,۰۳: /bist o pænʤ o se sædom/ بیست و پنج و سه سدم
Pattern of Numeral Phrases with Decimal Fraction Numerals
Numeral phrases with decimal fraction numerals are generated by means of the pattern [NP[DetPdecimal fraction numeral] [NPnoun phrase]]:
دو ممیّز دوازده گرم /do momæjjez dævɒzdæh geræm/
دوازده ممیّز سه میلیمتر /dævɒzdæh momæjjez se milimetr/
